Demar Derozan Spurs Trade

DeMar DeRozan signs '85M deal to join Chicago Bulls

August 11 2021

DeMar DeRozan has reportedly signed a three-year, $85 million deal to join the Chicago Bulls from the San Antonio Spurs.

The Bulls also gave up Thaddeus Young, Al-Farouq Aminu, a 2025 first-round pick and a 2022 second-round pick.

DeRozan, who spent the last nine seasons with the Toronto Raptors, is excited to start a new chapter in Chicago.

“I’m excited to be here,” DeRozan said. “I’m excited to be a part of this organization. I’m excited to be a part of this city. I’m excited to be a part of this team. I’m ready to get to work.”

The Bulls are hoping that DeRozan can help them return to the playoffs after missing out for the last four seasons.

DeRozan is a four-time All-Star and has averaged 20.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game over his career.

He is expected to play a key role for the Bulls alongside Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic.

The Spurs, meanwhile, are rebuilding after trading away DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge this offseason.

They are now led by Dejounte Murray and Keldon Johnson.

The Spurs are expected to be one of the worst teams in the NBA next season.
