Will Smith's Solo Home Run Sparks Dodger Victory

Dodgers Outlast Giants in Thrilling 10-Inning Affair

Will Smith's solo home run proved to be the difference maker Friday night as the Los Angeles Dodgers secured a hard-fought 4-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants in an extended 10-inning game.

After a scoreless start through three, the Giants opened the scoring in the fourth courtesy of an RBI single from Austin Slater. The Dodgers quickly responded as Chris Taylor's double scored Will Smith to tie it 1-1.

Dodgers Take The Lead

The Dodgers took the lead in the seventh when Max Muncy grounded out to second, which pushed home Gavin Lux. However, the Giants battled back in the eighth, tying it at 2-2 thanks to an RBI single from Jason Vosler.

Will Smith's heroics came in the top of the tenth when he launched a 1-2 curveball over the right-field wall to give the Dodgers a 3-2 advantage.

Giants Tie It Late

The Giants showed tremendous resilience in the bottom of the tenth, tying the game once again. Luis Gonzalez's RBI single drove in pinch-runner Brandon Crawford to make it 3-3.

The Dodgers wouldn't be denied though, as Miguel Vargas singled to right field in the top of the eleventh, scoring Trayce Thompson to give the Dodgers a 4-3 lead.

Bullpen Shines

The Dodgers' bullpen was outstanding, combining for 6.1 scoreless innings while allowing just four hits with nine strikeouts. Evan Phillips earned the win, and Craig Kimbrel recorded his 21st save of the season.

The victory improves the Dodgers' record to 76-37, maintaining their substantial lead in the NL West. The Giants, despite the loss, remain in contention for a Wild Card spot with a 59-54 record.
